About me
I write prose and poetry, draw and paint, and write and play music. After a spell at art school, I played in bands, then gave up being an artist to work as a nurse in secure mental health units, followed by a few years of uncomfortably wearing a suit while leading national policies on tackling violence in the NHS. After time as an expert witness, educator and senior lecturer, I gave it all up to go back to my first love.
I’m married to a Trini, and have spent much time in Trinidad and Tobago, where I gained inspiration for Under the Flamboyant Tree.
To unwind, I sing the blues, walk for miles, and talk to the animals and trees. My first, self-published novel is A Dog Unchained and I’ve completed another novel, Softly Fall the Stars at Night, set in Germany between the two World Wars. I’m currently working on my next novel, Endangered Pieces.
